Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
This attractive large house by the main road boasts an unusual name (a type of sorrel that is found in fields of maize) and cuisine that comes as a pleasant surprise. It features a pleasant terrace, a gastro-bar with high tables perfect for tapas and raciones, plus a contemporary dining room with a rustic decor. The cooking here takes its inspiration from both the region and what’s in season, including top-quality local fish, delicious steak tartare, and tasty stews prepared with Pedresa chicken, a breed that is commonly known as “picasuelo” in Cantabria. Make sure you try the house Russian salad, a homage to this renowned dish from the Bodega del Riojano in Santander.
