MICHELIN Guide's Point Of View

A small light shines from a back alley. The restaurant’s name means ‘firefly’, and the chef’s sunny smile lights up the spirits of his guests. The fare is Italian, yet Japanese sensibility lives within it. Counter seating is kappo-influenced, while the charcoal grill reflects use of longstanding Japanese methods. Japanese and Western serving-ware are used to suit each dish; the chef personally repairing pottery with kintsugi gold and lacquer comes from the Japanese spirit. Many customers frequent La Lucciola to enjoy the presence of the good-humoured chef.
