Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
Kikunoi set up this teahouse next to its ryotei. Lunch boxes provided by the ryotei are available at lunchtime. Try the famous shigure-meshi, a dish inspired by the Shigure-tei tearoom at Kodaiji temple. Shigure-meshi is served with tsukuri of tai dressed in sesame sauce on top of rice garnished with grated yam. Lunch boxes are filled with boiled and grilled foods and accompanied by bowls of stew. Dining on a menu of seasonal flavours while gazing out at the mossy garden soothes the soul.
