Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
Norma occupies an old building that almost passes by unnoticed, yet boasts delightful views, especially from its terrace, from where the vista encompasses São Gualter church, the iconic symbol of the city. The head chef here is Hugo Alves who, having worked in leading restaurants around Portugal, decided to return to his native Guimarães. His cooking is centred on a tasting menu and an à la carte that change every season. Dishes that are a must include the profiterole made with crab, tomato, sweet basil and cream cheese, and the mouthwatering “bràs”. For vegetarians, we recommended the delicious “feijoada” of celery, sesame, tsukudani and orange.
