Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
A pair of chefs (both called Alexis) have opened this friendly restaurant on the Place du Prado and, in a space with exposed stone and tiled walls, one is in charge of savoury, the other of sweet. A perfect partnership, right from the (delicious) starter that they create in tandem: house-made pâté en croûte, enveloped in a crispy golden pastry – courtesy of the pastry chef – with a tasty, well-seasoned stuffing made by the chef. This is followed by a kefta of pollack, chickpeas, garlic confit and harissa tomato sauce, an interesting reinterpretation of this dish, in a fragrant and cosmopolitan version. The lunch set menu, devised for those on the go, changes every week; for dinner, the menu-carte is more ambitious and evolves with the seasons and the market stalls.
