Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
Previously a cloister, this fine historical building is full of character. It now houses a restaurant, wine bar and cocktail bar, plus tables laid out in the inner courtyard – bliss on those balmy summer evenings. Mathieu Desmarest, chef of MICHELIN-starred restaurant Pollen, devises the menu; his wife Émilie, meanwhile, takes care of the music at this friendly, party-loving venue. As for the food, the contemporary repertoire is prepared to order, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, with Mediterranean undertones, eg sea bream ceviche, fennel and cherries; Ardèche trout, almonds, roast white asparagus and white wine sauce.
