Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
A leading example of classical architecture in Lithuania, Vilnius Town Hall is a special place. Climb the steps and locate the bar for a drink before heading upstairs, where this stylishly elegant restaurant awaits beneath a blue frescoed ceiling. The cooking is classical too – a mix of French and Italian – with powerful flavours but a delicate touch; you might find fish soup styled like a consommé, venison in the fashion of a Rossini tournedos, or a somewhat original chocolate and baravykas (cep) dessert. Surprisingly for its location, prices are fair, with the business lunch a steal.
