Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
Syuejia District is among the top five milkfish farming areas in Tainan, attracting foodies from all over the island. Yung Tung’s signature milkfish congee uses a fish stock that bursts with umami. Various parts of milkfish are served fried, braised or blanched. The braised fish head, and fish floss rice are especially popular. It also carries grass carp, tilapia and common carp, alongside hot dishes such as braised pork sinew.
