Situated just a stone’s throw from the Italian border and surrounded by vineyards in the delightful rolling hills of the Collio wine-producing region, this imposing 17C castle is home to an elegant boutique hotel as well as this restaurant. The cuisine here reflects the multicultural character of the country, combining Mediterranean and Central European traditions and ingredients in dishes which are colourful, creative and full of flavour, as well as competitively priced. As this is one of Slovenia’s most important wine-producing regions, the wine shop here is definitely worth a visit. In summer, the pool bar on the terrace is also open.
