One look at Nao, with whitewashed brick and pops of blue, and you won't be surprised that it's Mediterranean-minded. What will come as a welcome surprise, however, is the high level of service and the exemplary dishes. Local chef Alex Branch has created a winning menu, and from the bread and pasta to the gelato, everything is made in house. Don't skip the starters, especially the roasted beets with pomegranate molasses. From there, tuck into house-made tortellini with flavors of cacio e pepe with shrimp, small tobiko, and pea tendrils. Main dishes, like lechón, are sized for sharing, which leaves plenty of room for yogurt gelato with crumbled baklava and macerated strawberries.
