Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking

An attractive blend of urban cool and historical ambiance is the backdrop here and the exposed old brickwork certainly adds to the effect! On regular evenings, the kitchen serves up regionally inspired dishes with an international twist, either as a set menu or à la carte. The chicken cordon bleu with ham, Gruyère, Schupfnudeln (finger-shaped potato dumplings) and spring vegetables is an especially delicious example. Thursday evenings are dedicated to Japanese fusion cuisine. More limited options at lunchtime. Attentive, charming and adept service. Thanks to the beautiful old town location right by the Aare River, tables on the waterfront terrace are coveted in summer.
