Andreas Caminada is the man behind this fabulous venture in the Marktgasse Hotel, located in the heart of the historical district on the right bank of the River Limmat. The beautiful, classically styled bar (perfect for pre-dinner drinks) leads into the tastefully decorated restaurant, designed by Patricia Urquiola. The set menu, which is devised for sharing, can be supplemented by à la carte options. Head chef Daniel Zeindlhofer remains true to the IGNIV philosophy while incorporating his own ideas. The result is complex yet accessible cuisine, in which his technical skill is as much the focus as the outstanding produce. Standout dishes that remain in the memory include a remarkably intense fish soup and an aromatic duck and venison terrine with black truffle and brioche. The wine list is exceptional, with a particularly impressive champagne selection. Wine pairings from the Zurich region are recommended to go with the set menu. Led by hostess and sommelier Ines Triebenbacher, the charming, top-notch team guides you seamlessly through the evening, which concludes with the iconic IGNIV "candy store" – a sweet memento that goes down well with diners.
